Wedding Pictures & News

First of all for the news... earlier this week, we got internet at home, and also a home phone! Email me for our number - I'm looking forward to being in contact with people a little more. (My cell phone gets terrible reception in our house.)

Also, we got our wedding pictures back from the photographer about a week ago, so I thought I'd share a few of them. They haven't been cleaned up or anything yet, but here are a few of the posed ones! I'll post the ones from the ceremony tomorrow.

Here is the beautiful window above the stage in the chapel.

This is how the front of the church was decorated.

Andrew with his groomsmen: his friend Donald, cousin Phillip, brother-in-law Collin, and brother Thomas, and our ring bearer, Connor (Andrew's nephew):

My grandmother had a picture taken like this right before her wedding, and so did my mom:

Me =)

With my dear friend, former roommate, and maid of honor Cara.

With my bridesmaids: Andrew's little sister Abigail (junior bridesmaid), long-time friend and neighbor Hannah-Joy, almost-sister Cara, Andrew's older sister Hannah, and life-long friend Danae.

With my flower girl, Libby. (I've babysat her since before her first birthay!)

My handsome husband in his last few minutes as a bachelor!

Connor had gotten cowboy boots and a cowboy hat for his birthday and was really looking forward to wearing them in Texas! (He also wanted to ride a horse to Texas, but for some reason Collin and Hannah didn't think that was a good idea.)

I love him so much!!!

It's official! Andrew signing the marriage certificate on the pastor's back.

And one last random one... these were the girls' bouquets - I loved them! Abbie's was just like it except made out of sweetheart roses so it would be smaller.

The Newest Member of Our Family

Meet Penny, the newest member of the Wideman family. We got her on Wednesday from animal control. She was found as a stray at the beginning of April, and was probably abused or at least neglected before that. She was very people-shy when we first got her but has really warmed up to us over the past few days! (Of course Andrew's cat isn't too thrilled about the whole thing.)

We spent two nights in Lubbock after the wedding and then five days in New York City (I'll post pictures sometime in the near future). We got back to Michigan last Saturday and have spent this week getting settled into the house. We had a reception last night at the Owosso Country Club that went really well. (I'll put pictures up of that too sometime!)

Tonight is Andrew's first night back to work since the wedding, so I'm over at his parents' house bumming internet usage off of them. (Hopefully we will be getting internet and a home phone sometime this week.) I also want to post some pictures of the house later (but I want to get some of the presents up around the house and off the coffee table before I take the pictures).

New Beginnings

I decided to start a blog in order to keep up with everyone in Texas and let y'all know what's been going on in our lives! I've always enjoyed reading other peoples' thoughts on their blogs, journals, etc., and did a little bit of blogging in college but eventually that faded out.

Being back in Lubbock for the past couple of weeks has been really nice. I've gotten to catch up with some friends, and also just spend some much-needed time with my mom, which has been great. I've been nervous on and off about the move, changing churches, homes, making new friends... oh yeah, and getting married is a pretty big change too I guess :-) I'm excited about it all though, so we'll see how it goes!

I think everything is coming together very well for the wedding... I have a couple of last minute things that can't be done until the day before or the morning of the wedding, but other than that, I think this week shouldn't be too busy! Everyone was always telling me how stressful it would be to plan a wedding (especially in 3 months!), but I have to say that it definitely has not been stressful at all. Part of this may be due to the fact that I am a bum. There - you have it in writing :-) But not working has been kind of nice and I'm also looking forward to a time getting used to my new home without having the added stress of work there. I finally filled out the paperwork for my license transfer to Michigan yesterday. I'm not sure if it was a subconscious thing that I really didn't want to have to start work right away or if it just slipped my mind for a while, but at any rate, they say the transfer takes 6-8 weeks, so hopefully I will be able to start work in early June.
